Ford Transit 150 Review

Need a fleet vehicle to transport people or cargo for your company? The 2018 Ford Transit 150, which has both Passenger Wagon and Cargo Van body styles, is one option you may be considering.

In this Ford vehicle review, we want to give Maitland, Orlando, and Winter Park business owners a closer look at what the Transit 150 can offer in all its configurations, so you can decide whether it meets your bottom line. Have any questions? Contact us at Peacock Ford!

2018 Transit 150: Body Styles

2018 Ford Transit StyleIf you choose the Ford Transit Passenger Wagon, you'll find seating for a sizeable team inside. This wagon can seat eight, 10, 12, or even 15 passengers, depending on the trim level you opt for. With this kind of versatile passenger capacity, the 2018 Transit 150 has incredible potential as a shuttle service.

The Ford Transit Cargo Van comes standard with passenger-side 60/40 hinged cargo doors or an available sliding door. If you need to work from both sides of the vehicle, models with higher roof heights have dual sliding cargo doors available. This van is easy to upfit, too, with 13 upfitters within 30 miles of the assembly plant.

Whether you opt for the passenger or cargo version, you'll be able to pick from three roof heights, three body lengths, and two wheelbases to perfectly configure your ride.

Engine Performance Specs

In either body style, the Ford Transit is powered by one of three possible engine options. Let's look closer at the powertrain lineup:

  • 3.7L Ti-VCT V6: 275 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque
  • 3.5L EcoBoost® V6: 310 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque
  • 3.2L Power Stroke® Turbodiesel 5-cylinder: 185 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque

When properly equipped, the Cargo Van can tow up to 7,500 pounds, and the Passenger Wagon can tow up to 5,100 pounds. An available trailer brake controller (TBC) works with the anti-lock brakes to sync the vehicle and trailer brakes for seamless braking. You can easily tow a cargo trailer with even more materials you'll need for the job.

Versatile Interior Space

2018 Ford Transit Interior SpaceThe 2018 Transit 150 is incredibly versatile in all its configurations. In fact, the 15-seat Passenger Wagon fits up to 100.5 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the backseat-enough room to pack everyone's luggage for a conference trip out of town. Plus, the easy-to-clean vinyl flooring keeps spills from becoming a problem.

From light to heavy loads, there's a Transit Cargo Van ideal for moving all that you need. Across the model range, the vehicle's Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) ranges from 8,550 to 10,360 pounds. Payload is equally impressive, with a range of 2,930 to 4,650 pounds. You can even carry ladder racks on the roof to hold up to 450 pounds.
