Expedition vs Suburban: Interior Features

Slide inside the 2019 Expedition and Suburban, and you'll find simply cavernous cabins. Both offer three rows of seats and plenty of storage space. Fold the second- and third-row seatbacks in the Suburban and Expedition MAX, and you'll find nearly 122 cubic feet of cargo volume in both vehicles.

Keep in mind, though, that the third row in the Ford SUV is a bit more spacious. With more than 36 inches of legroom, your rear cabin passengers will have plenty of room to stretch their legs. The third row in the Chevy SUV is a bit tighter, with just 34.5 inches of legroom.

SUV Performance Specifications

The Ford Expedition and Chevy Suburban have plenty of power under their hoods. The Suburban runs on your choice of two V8 engines, which put out 383 lb-ft of torque and 460 lb-ft of torque, respectively. Those are excellent figures, but the Expedition blows them out of the water.

Its standard EcoBoost® V6 cranks out 470 lb-ft of torque in most trims, and, with premium fuel on the top-tier Platinum trim, you'll see 480 lb-ft of torque. All that torque translates into exceptional acceleration-and pulling power.

In fact, the Expedition can tow up to 9,300 pounds when properly equipped, so moving the family boat to open water won't be a problem. The Suburban has excellent towing figures, too, but it tops out short of the Ford SUV, with an 8,300-pound max towing capacity.

Advanced Technology Features

Staying connected in the 2019 Expedition and Suburban is easy. The list of available features in each large SUV is long, with wireless device charging, smartphone integration, rear-seat entertainment systems, and premium sound systems all making an appearance.

Have teenage drivers? You'll like the Ford MyKey® and Chevy Teen Driver features, which let you monitor your kids' driving habits, from seatbelt use to audio volume to speed.

The Expedition also offers a rotary gear shifter on the center console. Set against the woodgrain appliqué accents, it lends the cabin a more distinguished look. It makes for intuitive shifting, and you won't find a similar feature in the Chevy SUV.
