2017 Ford Escape vs 2017 Chevy Trax near Winter Park

Compare The Ford Escape With The Chevrolet Trax

If you're looking for a five seater vehicle that has more cargo and passenger volume than a sedan, but still contains excellent engine power, luxurious amenities, and smart technology, then you may want to consider a compact SUV, or a crossover. The compact SUV body style fits any family, any preferences, and any budget, but doesn't lack the niceties of a stylish sedan. The Ford Escape is the perfect example of how a crossover should be. It's stylish, both on the inside and outside, contains multiple infotainment and safety technological systems, has plenty of power, and seats five people, and all of their luggage, comfortably.

How does the Ford Escape compare to one of its greatest competitors, the Chevrolet Trax?

It's true. The Chevrolet Trax is an exquisite compact SUV and is comparable to the Ford Escape, but there are many differences that push the Escape a little bit higher than the Trax.

If you are in the market for a new SUV, no matter if it's compact or not, you most likely are looking for more space. The Ford Escape not only has a larger passenger volume than the Chevy Trax, but it also contains more cargo volume. This means that your front and rear passengers get more head, leg, shoulder, and hip room so that they can spread out more and be more comfortable. The extra cargo volume is also needed. Pack more gear for your camping trip, load up a few more plants to really make your garden shine, or be better prepared for a day at the beach. In any case, more room means more comfort and more flexibility.

When it's time to really get moving, you are going to want the power behind the wheel to be extraordinary. The top trim of the Ford Escape comes with a 1.5-liter Intercooled Turbocharged Engine that produces 179-horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. The top trim of the Chevrolet Trax only has a 1.4-liter Turbocharged Engine that produces 138-horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque.

Put that extra horsepower and torque to good use and add the available tow hitch to your Escape. Unlike the Trax, the Escape gets up to 3500-pounds of towing capacity, in the top trim, and 1500-pounds in the base model. The Trax isn't capable of towing and doesn't even have the ability to add a tow hitch to its body.

Extra Amenities

When it comes to driving, we don't just want a vehicle that can get us to point A to point B. Those types of vehicles are in the past. These days we want something that is luxurious, smart, and helpful. The Ford Escape has more of these futuristic features than the Chevrolet Trax.

  • Navigation System

Being able to find your way around, whether that be in your home town or when you're visiting somewhere that you have never been before, navigation is extremely helpful. The top trim levels of the Escape has an available navigation system, but the Chevy Trax does not.

  • Power Hands-Free Liftgate

If you've ever had to try to open the back hatch with your hands full then you know how important a power hands-free liftgate truly is. Wave your foot under the rear bumper, while your key fob is in your purse or pocket, and the hatch will open for you automatically. You'll have to struggle with opening the back if you have the Chevy Trax.

  • Seats Designed For Your Comfort

In the Chevrolet Trax you will find comfortable seats, especially for the driver, but what about your other passengers? The Ford Escape has an answer. In the higher trim levels you will find premium leather seats (on all surfaces), a front passenger power seat with adjustable lumbar, seat memory, and, to top it all off, an available heated steering wheel. These additional luxurious features are not available in the Chevrolet Trax.

  • Technology Systems

Both vehicles are covered in innovative technology, but the Trax lacks in a few essential systems. Automatic parking, brake assist, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, rain sensing wipers, and front and rear multi-zone a/c are just a few of the available or included systems that the Ford Escape has that the Chevy Trax does not.
