2018 Explorer: Exterior Features

2018 Ford Explorer Interior FeaturesThe 2018 Explorer is wrapped up in an attractive outer shell, with a bold and dynamic new grille and fresh LED signature lighting in the front and rear. In addition to that, there are five all-new wheel options, with wheel sizes ranging from 18 to 20 inches. The 20-inch wheels really pop and add a sportier profile to the vehicle.

The Explorer's Range Rover-esque styling gives it the look of luxury, with its sharp lines and square-jawed, attractive looks. Here, form is followed by function: The Explorer can handle light off-roading, with a ground clearance of 7.8 inches that will help you avoid low-lying brush, rocks, and bumps in the ground.

Cabin Space & Interior Features

Slide into the cabin of the Ford Explorer, and you'll find a comfortable place to spend time. There's room for up to seven people across three rows of seats. Choose the second-row captain's chairs, and you'll get an even cushier ride, although seating capacity will be reduced to six.

The second-row captain's chairs slide and recline, making it easy for third-row riders to enter and exit the vehicle. Adults will have no problem fitting in the second row (39.5 inches of legroom) and the third row (33.3 inches of legroom) can even accommodate average-sized adults in a pinch.

The cargo bay is simply cavernous. There's 21 cubic feet of storage volume behind the third row, which will fit your groceries with ease, plus plenty of luggage for a family trip. Fold down the second- and third-row seats, and you'll find nearly 82 cubic feet available, which is sure to come in handy on moving day.

SUV Performance Specs

2018 Ford Explorer PerformancePowering the 2018 Explorer is a standard 3.5L V6 that delivers up to 290 horsepower and 255 lb-ft of torque. That's peppy enough for a wide range of driving situations, whether it's making your way around town or merging onto the freeway.

Two more engines are available, and each provides drivers with something a little different. The 2.3L EcoBoost® 4-cylinder offers 280 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. For that small trade-off in horsepower, you get the most impressive fuel economy in the lineup: an EPA-estimated 19 city and 27 highway MPG.

For the best power, you'll want the 3.5L EcoBoost® V6. This turbocharged engine generates up to 365 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque, giving you the liveliest ride of all three engines.
