2018 Ford Escape Review

Fresh off a refresh from the last model year, the 2018 Ford Escape leaves a lot the same-and we'd say that's OK, given the potent mix of driving dynamics, technology, and space that this compact crossover SUV seems to have perfected over the years.

At Peacock Ford, we want to help shoppers across Maitland, Orlando, and Winter Park find out if this Ford SUV is a good fit for them. Read our car review to discover the Escape's most important specs and features. And, when you're ready, reach out to us to learn more!

2018 Escape: Performance Specs

In the 2018 Escape, three engines to choose from give you plenty of ways to customize the performance of your crossover. The base engine, a 2.5-liter Duratec 4-cylinder with 168 horses and 170 lb-ft of torque on tap, delivers solid acceleration. But, you'll get more pep from the available turbocharged engines:

  • 1.5-liter EcoBoost® I-4, with 179 horsepower and 177 lb-ft.
  • 2.0-liter EcoBoost® I-4, with 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft.

All that torque in the larger EcoBoost® 4-cylinder gives it a max towing capacity of 3,500 pounds, when equipped with the Class II Trailer Tow Package. So, hitch up your speedboat and head out to the beautiful Florida coast for some fun in the sun!

The tow package includes features like Trailer Sway Control, which can apply precise braking or reduce engine torque to keep the Escape and your trailer within your control.

User-Friendly Technology Features

When you're driving around Central Florida, it's critical to find a way to keep cool in the heat and humidity. Luckily, the Ford Escape can help you there, with available dual-zone automatic climate control. Both the driver and front passenger can set their ideal temperature, letting you enjoy your precise level of coolness.

The available Panoramic Vista Roof® is useful in this regard, as well. Not only does it retract to let in fresh air and natural light, but it can also tilt up to vent the vehicle. If you've let the Escape sit out in the Florida sun all day, this is a good way to let the hot air escape before switching on the climate control to keep you cool.

SUV Interior Features & Dimensions

From a date night in town to a weekend camping trip, the 2018 Escape is ready to go, with ample cubby storage, plenty of cargo space, and roomy passenger seating. You'll enjoy 43 inches of legroom up front and nearly 37 inches in the backseat, making this cabin comfy for adults of all shapes and sizes.

In the cargo bay, you'll find 34 cubic feet of storage space behind the rear seats-ideal for a picnic lunch and some coolers. Fold the rear seats flat, and you'll have enough room to transport furniture, with up to 68 cubic feet.

Need to open the trunk when your hands are full? The available hands-free liftgate is a major convenience. Just swipe your foot under the rear bumper, and the liftgate will rise automatically. This way, you can load up your Escape in record time and be ready for the road ahead!
